Frequently Asked Questions

Q.How many words are included, and how were they selected?

A.The current MVP ships with 200+ highest-signal vocabulary entries from the last 5 years (2021–2025) of Suneung plus June and September mock exams. The roadmap extends this to roughly 2,000 words; when it grows, frequency and grade buckets will be recomputed, so badge colors may shift.

Q.What does the ×number frequency mean?

A.Total times the word appeared across all Suneung and mock-exam passages in the last 5 years. 40+ means it shows up in almost every session; 25–40 means 3+ hits across 2–3 years. Inflections (plural, past, 3rd singular, etc.) are counted under the same headword.

Q.What do the S/A/B/C grades mean?

A.S = Top (40+ occurrences), A = Essential (25–40), B = Core (10–25), C = Advanced (5–15). These are our internal tiers based on 5-year cumulative frequency — not an official Ministry of Education classification, and unrelated to the 1–9 Suneung band score.

Q.Where is my flashcard progress saved?

A.Only in your browser's localStorage — nothing is sent to a server. You can resume on the same device/browser, but cross-device sync is not yet supported. Clearing browser data or using private mode will wipe progress.

Q.How does search work?

A.Type either the English word (e.g., comprise) or the Korean meaning (구성하다). Results rank by exact → prefix → substring match, then get filtered by the active grade / POS / sort options. Queries are case-insensitive.

Q.Are the example sentences from real Suneung exams?

A.No. Exam prose is copyrighted, so all example sentences are written by our editors to illustrate the headword's typical usage. They differ from the actual exam but reflect the common part-of-speech pattern and collocations that show up in the exams.

Q.A word I expected is missing. Can I request it?

A.Yes — email the word, part of speech, and exam/source citation via the Contact link in the footer and we'll review it for the next update. Proper nouns are generally excluded; EBS-linked-textbook high-frequency entries are prioritized.

Q.Does the flashcard mode work on mobile?

A.Yes. Tap the card to flip; the Known / Review / Next / Previous buttons are touch-first. On desktop you also get keyboard shortcuts: Space = flip, → = next, 1 = known, 2 = review.

Q.Can I cite the frequency data in my blog?

A.Yes. The frequency numbers are factual data — cite "suwords.bal.pe.kr" as source and you may quote or screenshot freely. Bulk redistribution of the entire dataset is not permitted.

Q.Is there a paid plan or login?

A.No. The site is free and ad-supported (AdSense). Future optional add-ons (cloud sync, CSV / Anki export) may appear as paid extras, but core search and flashcards will remain free.
